Wow, a new release!
Written by Tom Albers

Hi All, it has been a while, but now the time has come. We have made a new release: 1.5.0-alfa1. I think it is fair to explain why it took a while.

After the last release we started to work on Mailody4, this is the KDE4 version of Mailody. A lot has changed in KDE and we needed to adapt to it and help to make that happen. Not only the API changed, so we had to change the code, but also the buildsystem changed to CMake. But those are technical details.

More obvious is that we are now share the settings for incoming and outgoing mailservers with KMail and the rest of KDE. This means that when you switch between KMail and Mailody, you will not have to re-enter your settings.

Another big, big change is Akonadi. This KDE framework will be released in KDE 4.1 and we depend on it. So that means we do not longer use a SQLite backend for storing/caching the messages, we now use Akonadi. As that software is not completely finished, this will also be most of the bugs you will see now.

Basically you now see a completely new Mailody, although the interface has not changed much. The good news is that Akonadi will bring pop3 support and for example multiple accounts supports to mailody. Of course there are some new features waiting to be discovered for you: like the quick reply feature.

Have fun with testing Mailody 1.5 alfa1!

During the last week Mailody for KDE 4 got a few nice updates.
Here are the highlights:

* We can now send attachments again.
* Nice change-identity-statusbar-thing in the composer.
(Includes options to hide the old transport and identity-drop-down-boxes)
* Sorting messages by date, not alphabetically by day.

Nice work Tom!

With KDE 4 recently released, the Mailody team is working hard at updating the client for release by KDE 4.1 in August. Besides bug fixes, you can look forward to the implementation of the Akonadi, a new PIM framework for KDE. HERE is a screenshot showing off Mailody and Akonadi working together. Stay tuned as we continue to document the status of Mailody for KDE 4.
